Vintage 90Er Modernistisches Design Alessi Philippe Starck Joe Kaktus Bakelit Aschenbecher
Here we have a fabulous modernist "Joe Cactus" bakelite ashtray. This was designed by infamous French designer Philippe Starck in 1990 in the shape of a stylised cactus and was originally produced for OWO. In 1996 Alessi purchased the design rights to this and produced these ashtrays in Portugal which is this example. The originals sell for several hundreds of £'s and an example can be found in the Museum Of Modern Art. This was purchased over in an antiques market in Brussels recently - I had never seen this before and thought it was spectacular so had to buy it and learn more about it! I don't smoke but I really love this piece, it's so stylish and a wonderful piece of design by a highly desirable designer. It measures approximately 8 inches by just over 4 inches in diameter. Perfect prop for a cocktail bar, mid century/space age inspired home. This is the only one on eBay so get it while you can! If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.
