A rare collectors time piece circa ‘1970’ Omega Seamaster 200 ‘Banana’. Just looking at the yellow dial, this Seamaster 200 fully deserves its ‘Banana’ nickname; it also offers a very attractive handset and rotating Bakelite bezel. The Seamaster reference 166.068 definitely stands out among other Omega divers, thanks to its unique yellow dial. It also showcases a red and black bezel not usually found on Omega references. The handset itself is also very distinctive, with a sword-like shape which is usually seen in a military-issued pieces. The barrel case fully confirms the 1970s origins of this unconventional Seamaster. This Seamaster has some uniform aging to its periphery, giving it a darker tone. This is a funky Omega that will set you apart!!

This is an amazing Omega watch with the nick name ‘Banana’ - On the wrist that has a truly unique aesthetic. The large steel case is in solid condition and the watch retains all its original parts.

It is easy to be infatuated with this purposeful design. One cannot articulate well the physical difference in demeanour that the vintage piece brings to the table. It’s more of a feeling that comes with the texture of scratches, feeling of solidity, and solid sweep of ‘spear’ seconds hand. With its applied logo, deep tritium, yellow grey dial, and mega steel case, one should be willing to bet it all on black for this 166.068.

Most underrated and undervalued collectors Omega. A bargain compared to rivals of the era such as the ‘Double Red Sea dwellers’ which are achieving in excess of £30k in similar condition. Albeit a mystery why the comparative ‘Seamasters’ are going for a song, clearly sleepers waiting to explode!

You can never go wrong with a Seamaster. That sense of self-satisfaction at having something subtly different, something which most people won't recognise. Especially if you’re wearing ‘166.068’.

The Original Dial: Signed Omega Automatic Seamaster T Swiss Made T’. Yellow, grey and black dial with lovely patina, sword hands with aged luminous inserts, matching spear seconds hand as well as an applied Omega logo at ‘12’ with a date window at ‘3’ o clock, applied aged creamy lume filled baton indexes with a triangular marker sitting proudly at ‘12’ o clock. An outer chapter ring featuring minute indices. Dial has marks commensurate with age and everyday wear. Please observe photographs.

The Original Case/Bezel: Steel brushed and satin finished case measuring 41mm width x 12mm depth x 45mm height with out crown including lugs, case is in solid condition for the age - Has surface scratches associated with Steel commensurate with everyday wear and age. Lugs are in solid condition. Correct rotating original factory Bakelite Bezel has cracks and scratches commensurate with age and every day wear. Bezel is in good functional order. The Original Case Back Cover Inner: Signed Omega Watch Co FAB SUISSE SWISS MADE DDE BR. + 2750/57 FOND ACIER INOXYDABLE 166.068. Case cover is in good overall condition.

The Original Case Back Cover Outer: Screw back case a plain polished finish with the hippocampus visible. Screw back cover fits flush without any issues. Has surface scratches associated with Stainless steel commensurate with age and wear. In solid condition with plenty of depth. Please observe photos.

Crystal: Flat glass crystal is in good condition, possible later replacement.

The Original Omega Crown/Winder: Tooth crown signed with Omega logo in good functioning order. Age related wear to logo.

Original Movement: High grade Calibre 565 Automatic. Signed Omega Swiss Twenty Four Jewels, numbered 3******* dating the watch to 1970 on the Omega date register (year of manufacture not year of sale or issue of guarantee booklet). Keeping accurate time and in excellent condition. Recently benefited from an overhaul by a marque specialist watchmaker keeping perfect time. (Photos of movement taken before overhaul).

Aftermarket Strap/Band Buckle; Recently fitted good quality leather strap and steel buckle.

Original Presentation Box: In poor to average condition with imperfections. Small tear to one side at the top.
