RARE VINTAGE STELLA SOVEREIGN SHORT SCALE GRAND CONCERT GUITAR A BEAUTY 1935
Sovereign was a trade name of the Oscar Schmidt Company who produced large volumes of guitars in the 1920's/30's under a wide range of trade names. Of these Stella and Sovereign are probably the best known.
This is the actual guitar featured in Neil Harpe's book The Stella Guitar and bought by previous owner directly from him
This very rare model is a fine example of the Oscar Schmidt Company workmanship at its best. The body is made from solid ribbon hogany with a fancy rosette of interwoven white pearl and abalone. The guitar is in original condition including the sewood fingerboard and the ebonised mustachio style bridge with all six bone pins with inlaid abalone dots. The guitar has its original finish which is in superb condition with just a few very minor marks. The neck has had an excellent reset and fingerboard flattened and re-fretted making a low action and players dream. Absolutely no cracks
