Silkybuy Review
" The Karakal Black Zone 20 is a fantastic entry level racquet. Whether playing for leisure or at improving club level, this racquet will reward its user regularly. This aesthetically very pleasing racquet above all impresses with its effortlessly smooth swing, vibration-free impact and precise control of the shuttle. The hitting sound from the string bed is crisp and the shuttle hold excellent. There is some head weighting for offensive play and I feel this racquet is well suited to playing with nylon shuttles as well as supporting the transition to feathers.
All my students owning and playing with this racquet really love it. The shaft of the Karakal Black Zone 20 is flexible, so giving the improving player good assist and more than acceptable accuracy, especially with the premium strings off the bat (excuse the pun). The slightly even balance also helps the improving player to develop their pronation- and supination-driving shoulder muscles. Contrary to the myth that beginners need ultra light racquets, a small amount of head weight is actually needed to train the muscles and provide some momentum in the head. Hence this racquet felt smooth and responsive in that power delivery. What also impresses about this racquet is the premium feel to the build, grommet and paint quality. This racquet would suit the social or club player looking to develop into an all rounder offence/defence player but also possessing great levels of control."
Bespoke Racquets and why they are better
We sell bespoke racquets always using premium branded string. We generally select a string tension most suitable for the particular capabilities of each frame. This approach enables optimum feel whilst retaining the largest sweetspot. Our string choices always give greater durability, more resistance to tension loss and higher repulsion (rebound power).
Manufacturers generally string with economy string and use a low tension because that's easier and faster for mass production. Also easier is using a single length of string i.e. laterals and mains are *connected* in one usually 9.5m length of string. This means an already low tension is more vulnerable to losing more tension due to 2 instead of 4 anchor points.
We on the other hand always string laterals and mains separately, with two lengths of string and 4 anchor points so they remain independent. We additionally use a slightly higher tension on laterals to balance any head flattening caused by the mains.
We test all our racquets
I only stock racquet models which I have personally tested on court (I'm an ex-county level player), believe to be of outstanding build quality and technology and which I believe will help players get the most out of their game, whatever their level. I always give an indication of the playing level or range of levels which each racquet is best suited for. We always record serial numbers for every racquet sold.
