This fossil is of a fresh-water fish found in Wyoming, of the species Knightia. Many of these fish are quarried in Southwest Wyoming, in an area that once had several large lakes. This fish has been enhanced with a light coloring to aid it's visibility, but you can feel the fossil lines- it is real. NOTE: This piece is different from most of the fish we run, in that the plate also shows 2 partial leaf fossils. The little fish is about 2 1/4" long. The total weight is about 3 1/4 oz. and the plate measures about 4 1/2 " x 3 1/4" x 1/4" thick. I am happy to combine items to save money on shipping should you win more than one auction. It would ship anywhere in the U.S. for less than $4.00. Please email me with any questions.
