Royal Dux porcelain is a type of porcelain that has been produced in Duchcov, Czech Republic since 1853. The company was founded by Eduard Eichler and the name of the company comes from the Latin word "Duke", the title of Eichler's father-in-law.
At the beginning of its activity the company produced simple white tableware, but soon began to experiment with colour and decoration. In the 1870s Royal Dux began to produce figurines, and by the beginning of the XX century they became the main focus of the company. Today, Royal Dux statuettes are a collector's item, and the company continues its activity, producing both porcelain tableware and statuettes.
