Drennan Matchpro Ultralight Float

11ft At just 11ft this model is per­fect for all sil­ver­fish and F1s and is par­tic­u­larly well suited to small, shallow com­mer­cial waters, espe­cially where reg­ular casting and retrieving is involved. Although the rod is crisp and fast, it has a decept­ively gentle shock-absorbing tip, which cush­ions the strike and allows you to fish hook­lengths right down to 10oz (0.06mm) with total con­fid­ence. Ideal main lines are from 2lb to 4lb. At the other extreme, small carp, tench and bream can be caught using 3lb or 4lb lines straight through. The Drennan Matchpro Ultralight 11ft float rod is excep­tion­ally light and well bal­anced in the hand and is fin­ished with a quality full cork handle, screw-down reel seat, keeper ring and full SiC line guides. 12ft This 12ft Ultralight is pro­duced in high mod­ulus carbon and is fitted with a Fuji reel seat and full SiC guides. It is beau­ti­fully bal­anced and feels amaz­ingly light in the hand. The blank is rigid with an ultra-fast action, making line and float con­trol really easy. It is ideal for small rivers and com­mer­cial fish­eries. Its cushion tip allows hook lengths down to 10oz (0.06mm) to be used for small Silverfish. Alternatively, reel lines up to 4lb (0.16mm) can be fished straight through. Such an ultra light­weight rod is best fished with small bodied, com­pact reels like the FD 3000 float fish model. 13ft The Matchpro Ultralight 13ft (3.96m) float rod is ultra light­weight, low in dia­meter and boasts a fast tip action. It fea­tures super high mod­ulus carbon con­struc­tion with full SiC guides and is ultra rigid with no excess middle or tip bounce. This provides a rapid strike response while helping float con­trol and min­im­izing tangles. Despite this crisp and fast action, it has a decept­ively gentle shock-absorbing tip sec­tion which cush­ions the strike and allows you to fish right down to hook­lengths of 12oz or even 10oz (0.07mm to 0.06mm) with com­plete con­fidence. At the other extreme, Chub, Bream and Tench can be caught fishing 3lb or 4lb lines straight through. The action is so for­giving that many fish can simply be gently wound in ‘off the reel’ without the need for ‘pumping’ and simply allowing the rod to react to the move­ment of the fish. The rod is so light and well bal­anced, it is an abso­lute pleasure to use. Whether trot­ting a float down a flowing river or repeatedly casting a wag­gler in a still­water, the Matchpro Ultralight can be fished for long periods without fatigue. Manufactured in a tra­di­tional three piece con­struc­tion, the blank will fold up and fit into the Matchpro small rod sleeve if required. 14ft The Matchpro Ultralight 14ft (4.2m) has a light, fast tip action and is extremely rigid with no excess bounce in the tip or middle. These char­ac­ter­istics com­bine with the extra length to provide a rapid strike response, improved casting and better float con­trol. This can be espe­cially useful when fishing flowing rivers, with ‘top and bottom’ floats such as sticks and Avons in an awk­ward down­stream wind or when fishing deeper swims with fixed floats. The rod is so light and well bal­anced that even when working a float on fast water, it can be fished all day without arm fatigue. Although the rod is crisp and fast, it has a decept­ively gentle, shock-absorbing tip which cush­ions the strike and allows you to fish hook­lengths right down to l0oz or 12oz (0.06mm) with total con­fidence. At the other extreme, chub, bream and tench can be caught fishing 3lb or 4lb lines straight through. Manufactured in tra­di­tional three-piece con­struc­tion, it will fold up and fit into the Matchpro small rod sleeve if required. 15ft At 15ft (4.57m) this ultra high mod­ulus carbon blank has a Fuji reel seat with screw down hood, a full cork handle and full SiC guides. It is remark­ably well bal­anced and excep­tion­ally light (185g / 6.5oz) for such a long rod. The all-important extra length provides much improved line and float con­trol at dis­tance. This allows you to keep more line off the water, to con­trol a float better when trot­ting at long range and to pick up line more effect­ively on the strike. Although the extra length makes the blank a little more mellow than our 13ft and 14ft Ultralights, it retains a high level of rigidity and a good, fast action. The cushion tip allows hook­lengths down to below 2lb (0.10mm) to be used and there is enough power to fish 4lb (0.14mm) straight through.
