An experimental gas turbine QJ locomotive N0. 8001 was built in September 1986 at Datong Locomotive Works in an effort to improve steam locomotive efficiency. The locomotive was built new and tested between Hohhot and Baoton. By 1988 the shift was towards diesel and electric traction and as a result tests did not continue. No. 8001 was retired and went on display at Datong Museum in 1988.

Powerful 5-pole skew wound armature can motor with dual brass flywheels; Electrical pickup from all 10 drivers; Heavily weighted chassis for improved stability and pulling power; Working bi-directional headlight; Brass bell and whistles. Eine experimentelle  Gasturbine  QJ  Lokomotive  N0 .  8001  wurde im September  1986 inDatong  Locomotive Works  in  dem Bemühen,  Dampflokomotive  Effizienz zu verbesserngebaut.  Die Lok wurde  neu gebaut  und getestet  von  Hohhot  undBaoton . Bis 1988  wardie Verschiebung  in Richtung  Diesel-und  Elektroantrieb  und als Ergebnis  Tests  nicht weiter .  Nr.  8001im Ruhestand war  und ging  auf dem Display an  Datong  Museum  im Jahr 1988.
