Wish the full lettering was there. Is a cool mold, flying saucer shaped ! A piece of American history. The patina and coloring of this wooden mold is awesome. The original lettering and/or Number Stamps from the mine workers explaining what piece the mold was for is easy to read. This mold is a piece of art in itself ! My folks and I have used these molds for various displays and purposes around the house ranging from picture frames to art stands . This Homestake Mining Company Sand Casting Pattern was owned by Kevin Costner for decor enhancement to be used at the Dunbar Resort in historic Deadwood, South Dakota, and subsequently sold at auction. These forms were handcrafted out of wood and were used to make sand molds for the Homestake Foundry. Black painted patterns were used for parts made of iron. This is a unique piece of history from the world famous Homestake Gold Mine in Lead, South Dakota, the mold is 60-100 + years old.
