As an FYI, there is another seller on eBay (and several on the Internet) claiming to sell 'Genuine Mylar bags'.   However, there are several things you should know.  First, the manufacturer the other sellers have listed as producing their bags, while saying 'Mylar' on their website, actually lists a material that is not Mylar on their actual product specifications page (meaning they are saying Mylar in its common use connotation, not its technical one...its not a fib, just confusing).  They list '48g Met Pet' (metalized polyester) as the material.  While this is a fine bag, Mylar's designation as first introduced by DuPont in the 1950's is 'BoPET'.  48g Met Pet is actually a generic description and could be made of many different films, but none of them is 'Genuine Mylar'.  BoPET is NOT a generic description.  (You can verify all this through some small amount of research on Wikipedia, DuPont's website, and through a detailed reading of the buyers and their manufacturers listing; I'm also glad to provide more information through email).  While I definitely don't like getting into 'he said, she said' with other eBay sellers, when they start spreading misinformation in an attempt to sell more products and at the same time damaging their competitors by saying they are selling inferior products is plain wrong.  Plus the fact that they have not done their research and are almost certainly not in fact selling 'genuine Mylar' is beside the point.

It isn't mentioned that Mylar is not produced by DuPont anymore, but by Dupont/Teijin. (Interestingly, Teijin is a Japanese company, and DuPont does not produce Mylar through any other means than a consortium with Teijin) Also, while Mylar is a brand name for BoPET, there are several other brand names for the exact same material.  Also, 50% of ALL 'genuine' Mylar is made in Asia.  So saying 'USA made' does not mean any particular Mylar film was not imported into the US (as most is) and processed into bags here (This is why most manufacturers (including the one mentioned) are on the west coast, so they can import films from Asia and then process them into bags in the US).

And while I LOVE selling American products, please know that any seller who is importing Asian products are NOT selling bad products.  In most cases, they are functionally equivalent to their USA Made counterparts, they simply cost less.  All the sellers on eBay want to sell a good product at a good price.

Zip Seal - A standard Ziploc style bag.  It is filled from the Zip Seal end.  For maximum protection, you can heat seal above the Zip Seal. OD - Industry lingo for a 'standard' Mylar Bag.  It is sealed on 3 sides and has an opening on the 4th where you fill and heat seal the bag.  This is the 'standard prepper bag'.  Economy - Our 'Econ' bags are still awesome for food storage, and they have sold more than any other prepper food storage bag in the US.  (In the millions, and growing every day!)  It is 3.5 mils vs. 5-6 mils for the standard ShieldPro bags.  However, it still offers great barrier protection, comparable to many other sellers '4 mil' bags. How to seal :  If you are only doing a few bags, a clothes iron (on the wool setting or a little higher) or a hair straightener work perfectly.  If you are a business or prep group sealing hundreds of bags, consider a KF-150cst Heat Sealer hand sealer to make the job a breeze.  How Many Oxygen Absorbers Should I Use?:  The general rule of thumb is to use 300-500cc per 1 gallon of bag.  Thus for a 1 gallon bag, use 1-2 300cc oxygen absorbers.  For a 5 gallon bag, use a 2000cc oxygen absorber.
