Sublime Antique Deco 18ct Garnet Encrusted Clover Brooch poss French or Russian
This is sublime, an unusual glistening beautifully made brooch.
There are tiny hallmarks to back of the pin, which neither me or my wonderful jeweler can decipher, gold (tested) brooch encrusted with cherry red Rhodolite or Pyrope Garnets in a stylized floral clover setting.
My jeweler said it looked like a rose gold wash over 18ct, the brooch is lovely & smooth underneath & it in fabulous collectable gift condition .
28 graduating Garnets are open backed, both chanel & claw set & travel the length of the circular "stem", the largest being 4.4mm narrowing to .2mm, whilst 3 exquisite .7mm beautifully cut oval Garnets make up the central flower. I am unsure as to what this cut is called, possibly it is Bohemian cut, it resembles an antique Rose Cut, but the highest point of each of the larger oval garnets has a meeting point of 6 facets, they do not have the flat faces of the other Garnets .
It is hallmarked on the pin & on the side of the hook, my jeweler said he doubted it was British, that he felt it could be French or more likely Russian, we happily argued over what the stamps could be but they look like a H, N or M & a star?
It measures exactly 2.5cm exactly (1") I have tried to weigh it but my digital scales can't be specific & keeps switching between 3 & 4g).

- Condition: I categorically have never seen a more beautiful antique Garnet brooch, the colour of the natural Garnets beggar belief & in fabulous condition, this looks like it has barely if ever been worn & remains as it was when given to me countless years ago. It has a set of minute hallmarks on the back of the pin (possibly a H or M & a star or Russian E but this is NOT marked 18ct, but is ceratinly more than 9ct my jeweler could not be more specific, ? my jeweler was convinced that this is Russian ), but we can not be more specific, though he thought it was French or Russian , the colour of the Garnets begar belief.
