After a visual inspection we strip and clean the cylinder head and then carry out a pressure test to make sure there are no cracks in the casting. Then it is placed in to a chemical bath over night to remove all carbon and oil deposits. We then decarbonise and regrind the valves, all worn guides are then reworked, the valve seats are recut and then we vacuum test each individual valve and seat to confirm good seating. We then re-shim the head to the correct tappet settings, re-skim the face, hot wash, replace all steam seals with new ones and rebuild ready to fit.
