DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Tools Required:

Tape .  Measure, Straight Edge, Pencil, Trimming Knife, Tracing Paper, Scissors, Carpenters Square.

Quantity of tiles required

Measure the length and width of the room in cm or feet. If there are alcoves or offsets, measure these  separately and add to the total: Determine the number of 30.5 x 30.5cm (1'  x 1')  tiles required to Cover  the area by dividing the length/width of the room in cm by 30.5 and then by Multiplying the result for the length and width together. If you have measured in feet, simply multiply the width by the length  and the result will give you the number of tiles required. "

Metric (cm) Example: If your room measures L 700cm x W: 500cm.

   700/30.5 = 22.9 (23 - tiles), 500/30.5=16.3 (17 tiles). 17 tiles x 23 tiles = 391 tiles (minimum) required to  cover the floor.

Imperial (feet) Example: If your room measures L: 17'6" x W: 8.

17'6" =18 tiles, 8' = 8 tiles. 18 tiles x 8 tiles =144 tiles (minimum) required to cover the floor.

Note: Extra tiles may be required to cover mistakes and any tiles which may be damaged in future.

Preparation of tiles

For best results, tiles should be removed from the packaging and separated into small piles for 24 hours  to allow the adhesive to acclimatize to room temperature. Tiles should be inspected for color and  variation, variations can occur during production and color consistency cannot be guaranteed.

Preparation of floor

Your finished floor can only be as flat as the floor being covered.

Timber Floors -Timber floors should be sanded and brushed to ensure it is smooth and free from  moisture, dirt, wax, grease or other foreign material that may show through the finished floor. If the

Timber floor is porous (e.g. Chipboard) it is' recommended to use a sealing agent before i n stallation. If the timber floor is tongue and grove, a 4mm hard board overlay should be used before installation to  prevent tongue and grove marks in your finished floor.

Concrete Floors Concrete floors should be freed from moisture, dirt, wax, grease or any other foreign  material that may show through the finished floor. Any chips or defects should be

patched using a  leveling compound prior to installing the tiles.

Planning the layout of your floor.

Treat the room as a rectangle ignoring alcoves and offsets. Find the centre points of all four walls. Then draw a line between the marks on opposite walls to create a cross in the middle of the floor. The room  should now be divided into four-equal parts. (see diagram 1)

Laying your floor

Do not remove the backing yet. Starting at the centre cross; place the tiles along each line of the centre cross to the edge of the room. If the gap at the edge is less than 150mm, move the starting point (the  cross at the centre) to close the gap. (see diagram  2)  When you are happy with your starting point, it is  time to lay your floor. First, ensure all arrows on the adhesive backing are facing the same direction. Next  remove the paper backing and lay the tiles on the floor, ensuring tiles are positioned tight against each  other and pressed firmly down to ensure full adhesion.

Cutting the edge tiles

Without removing the paper backing, place a loose tile over the last tile in the row , there should still be  a gap between the last tile and the wall (see diagram-3). Place a second tile over the first and butt it up  against the wall (see diagram 4). Now mark the cutting line where they overlap with a pencil or  knife. On a scrap piece of material and using a straight edge, cut the tile along the mark, remove paper

   backing and lay into place.

Fitting around irregular objects

To  fi t tiles around door jambs, pipes or other irregular shapes, cut a pattern to fit out of paper and trace i  onto a tile. Cut the tile and try fitting it into place before removing the paper backing and adhering in  place.

Maintenance of your new floor

To obtain the best performance from your new floor and to avoid permanent damage, we recommend  that you sweep or vacuum the floor depending upon traffic and soiling conditions, immediately clean  up any spills, occasional damp mopping with warm water and protect the floor from constant exposure  to sunlight and/or direct heat. The use of abrasive cleaners and/or abrasive pads is not recommended.  Proper floor protection devices must be used with furniture, and care should be taken when moving  any furniture around on .your floor.  A  reduction in gloss may be experienced in time which can and  should be restored with floor finish.
