18th Century Georgian shagreen etui containing drawing instruments.
The tapered oval case contains; A brass protractor Boxwood rule Boxwood sector A compass with pencil point, inking point and pricking wheel (the divider point is missing). A pencil A set of dividers An inking tool (not sure if this is original).
The interior is made of newspaper lined heavy card and is in good condition. Dimensions: 17.3cms long 7.3cms wide, tapering to 5.8cms x cms 3.5cms deep, tapering to 2.7cms Weight: 280gms
Condition: The shagreen is excellent and in original condition. Interior partitions are good and instruments are good. The instruments are good but note that there is a fracture line at the top of the pencil holder (see photographs). The catch holds the lid shut with a good grip but a piece of wood is missing from the inside of the lid that would have formed the secure click fasten.
